Five years ago my enlarged prostate was affecting my life in many ways. I suffered broken sleep because of the need to urinate frequently through the night. I was unable to undertake lengthy car journeys or travel on the Underground as I was unaware of the location of toilets.
Having read about the Greenlight Laser, I asked to be referred to my Laser Associate Surgeon and he explained how the procedure worked and told me that I would only need to be in hospital for one night, rather than five nights as with the TURP method.
My surgeon was very reassuring before the operation and explained things in great detail. After the procedure I was even able to contact him on his mobile phone!
Overall, I feel that the last operation was a complete success, and a perfect combination of 21st Century medicine and technology coupled with old-fashioned care and attention.
I am now 71 years old with no prostate problems and continue live my life to the full.

A few years ago I was having considerable trouble getting through the night without getting up more than five or six times to go to the toilet. Over the years this wears you down. I decided to come to see Mr Ranjan Thilagarajah for treatment and was dealt with courteously and promptly. I was very pleased with the treatment I received.

Since the operation I now have a very good flow rate, can go through the night without disturbance to go to the toilet. I feel that I am in a completely different ball game than I was a few years ago.

I have been having problems over the past two years or so with repeated visits to the toilet which, as a black cab driver, are both inconvenient and embarrassing. Since the surgery my life has been turned around ten fold. I am now able to concentrate on my driving rather than worrying where the next toilet stop is likely to be! My wife is also delighted that I can go shopping with her without the anxiety of having to find a nearby public convenience.

I cannot fault the care and attention given to me by Mr Thilagarajah and his team during my surgery. I felt no pain and no discomfort. It was a little strange to go home with a catheter in place but this was soon removed.

I would also advise anyone considering this procedure to take advice from the medical staff regarding the recovery period after surgery. Although you will feel great in yourself, it is vital that you do not do anything strenuous for a few weeks after to ensure complete recovery from the surgery. If you do heed the advice you will be back to a full life in a short time. In fact, I would add that an unexpected side effect has been the improvement in my sex life.

All in all, I cannot find sufficient words to thank Mr Thilagarajah for giving me a normal life back.
